Pumpkin Pie Playdough

Pumpkin Pie Playdough

Today is Thanksgiving. After a lovely weekend spent with my in-laws [and away from my phone], I am looking forward to a cozy day with my family of five. On today’s agenda is making homemade pizza, taking a nice walk now that the skies have cleared and lastly whipping up a batch of this seasonal pumpkin pie playdough! It smells divine and just like the real deal, however; while non-toxic shouldn’t be eaten. I hope your little ones enjoy it as much as my boys did! They sat still for over an hour which rarely happens!

  • 1 cup water

  • Orange food colouring [9:1 ratio yellow to red/ 36 to 4 drops respectively to achieve this colour]

  • 1 Tbs vegetable oil

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ cup salt

  • 2 tsp cream of tartar

  • 1.5 tsp pumpkin pie spice

  • Mix water and food colouring together and add to saucepan, then add the oil

  • In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients together then add to saucepan

  • Over medium to low heat, incorporate ingredients constantly stirring until the dough becomes dry

  • Allow to cool, then knead [add more flour if too sticky]

  • Ready, set, play!

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to several weeks
