I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

Monster Spray

Monster Spray

A few months ago, my daughter had a night terror that one of her brother’s toy dinosaurs transformed into a real life dinosaur and was chasing her around the house.  That sparked a very real fear at bedtime.  After a week of patiently giving her all the assurances, proof that both dinosaurs are extinct and that toys aren’t alive- and even praying with her and for her, nothing seemed to ease her concerns and I could often hear her whimper when I shut her door.

Of course from an adult perspective, it’s easy to dismiss such an irrational worry, but to a child, it feels very real.  However; as this problem is a figment of her imagination, I decided to use my imagination to come up with a solution.

Introducing, Noelle’s “Monster Spray.”  This idea was inspired by a book I read as a child, “Sheila The Great” by Judy Blume.  One of the bit characters, Mitzi a spunky 5 year-old was also had the bedtime scaries until her Grandma whipped up a batch of “Mitzi’s Monster Spray” which consisted of water in a spray bottle.  I do something similar but with a few oils of calming properties as I don’t think Noelle would be convinced of its efficacy if it were just water lol! 😂

Is this A+ parenting? Nope.  Is this a nifty hack if your kid is frightened? Absolutely!
