veil
Tonight, I stumbled across this photo on Pinterest. I was a young girl when I first saw this image in a print magazine, well before the internet was a thing. I remember being so mesmerized by the bride that I ripped out the advertisement (I think it may have been for a perfume?).
While I was a very organized fiancée and bride, I didn’t spend much time dreaming about my wedding when I was younger. I would sometimes wonder who my future spouse might be, but I didn’t feel I could—or even wanted to—plan anything until I met my other half. The most I ever did was save ideas when I happened to come across them. Singing at weddings created plenty of opportunities to explore what I might eventually want.
Somewhere among school photos of friends, handwritten cards, and random knick-knacks, I had tucked that torn magazine page into a little keepsake box. That box—and the ad—are long gone now, which made it feel so special to stumble across this image again by chance. It inspired me to wear my hair down with a long veil.
Anyways, please indulge me as I found a muse locked in the vault of my imagination. Bridal trends can come and go, but I will never regret following an image that had stopped me in my tracks 10-15 years prior,
