Aug 3 Beach, Please!

I am so grateful for my in-laws graciously hosting us at a cottage for a few days this summer. Being heavily pregnant, I hadn’t organized anything special this summer, so the fact that our family was able to have an incredible mini-getaway with fantastic company means SO much to me!

There's something about having a change of scenery that is so therapeutic. Bold sunset skies, clear waters, sand between the toes, cottage country and reconnecting with nature did my heart good. The highlight for me was watching my boys just thrive and love life!

I'll admit heading on a little beach vacation at 8-months pregnant triggered any insecurities and hang-ups I had about my ever expanding body, but I had made the decision to put on the bathing suit, not avoid the camera and to get in the water! Life is too short to shrink back. I didn't let a lack of confidence hold me back, and as a result not only did I have a blast, but I got one of my favourite maternity photos ever!

#mrdylanarcher discovered the top bunk is AWESOME. He also made huge strides in his aversion to water and found out it’s super fun... and is highly useful for building epic sandcastles with Grandpa and Auntie. ⛱ He’s an engineer/builder at heart like Daddy and Grandpa so building things is his favourite!

#mrkylerjude is our little fish 🐠 and LOVES the water! He also learned how to crawl out of the pack-and-play 🙄 and that no matter how cute you are, seagulls will steal your cheese string right out of your hand! Seeing him chasing them yelling “cheese” was hilarious! 😂🧀🤪

My family currently consists of three fair-skin Irish people and my tanned husband. Interestingly the only person to get a good burn was him haha! And we may have used 1.5 bottles+ of sunscreen! 🙈

I was again reminded that even with morning sickness and the logistics of hauling kids and luggage, that the memories are WORTH the effort! I need to be more intentional about creating fun memories for my kids and get better at planning fun little activities. They don't have to be extravagant, but they should be intentional. Can't wait to see what adventures are in store for my little family!
