I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life.

For the past few summers, our family [thanks to my generous in-laws] travels to a stunning cottage in a quaint beach town. With pristine sand kissing the edges of Lake Huron, it’s a slice of paradise in Ontario that brings me back to my expat days in Australia.

This year, my daughter Noelle decided to “go deep” in the water after last year’s “water toes” expedition. Dylan was fearless braving the waves and even lost his voice halfway through our stay due to squealing so much! Kyler enjoyed the beach, but equally enjoyed eating s’mores that he would peel it apart and eat the gooey marshmallow separately, playing Donkey Kong on the old school Nintendo and bonding with a large penguin stuffy in the cottage’s backyard playhouse. We had a little gas leak scare which resulted in a 9-1-1 visit from the fire department. All was well, but in true Kyler fashion he pleaded with his aunt to wear his firefighter costume as we evacuated [Dylan wore his police costume and was a little disappointed he couldn’t see a cop in action]. As you can see in his grin below, he was elated to stand alongside his heroes and don their attire! All the kids enjoyed early morning snuggles with Grandma and Grandpa and would collapse into their beds at night with a weary contentment after an adventure-filled day. My husband enjoyed some rounds of golf at the local course with his dad and I am always a sucker for a beach sunset. Watching the sun go to bed over the horizon as far as the eye can see reminds me how small I am, but reassuringly how much bigger my God who placed the sun it its place is.

This is a highlight for us every year and I am thankful that even in a pandemic, we’ve been able to enjoy this retreat from the everyday grind with those we love surrounding by beauty. It truly doesn’t get any better! So kids, without future adieu, here are some snapshots from our Cottage Trip ‘21.
