I'm Kristin.  I am a wife, designer, Christian and for now a SAHM.  My husband and I are parents to three kids- Dylan Archer, Kyler Jude and Noelle Rose. Despite the name, this isn’t a mommy blog and you won’t find sponsored content here. My target audience is actually my children when they grow up if they wish to reflect on their childhood so everything I share has them at the forefront of my mind and secondly those who wish to follow along my journey. I created this space to document my family's adventures and lessons I've learned along the way.  The Mom Jungle is a modern interpretation of both the family newsletter and scrapbook.

I call this The Mom Jungle because motherhood is fun and messy, filled with laughter and sometimes heartache… it truly is a jungle out there!

The One With The Bat

The One With The Bat

On Sunday evening, Justin and I decided to reward ourselves with a little ice cream at dusk once the kids were asleep. We survived another week of lockdown with our little ones, so let’s celebrate! We had just finished our mini Raspberry Fudge blizzards when we saw a shadow flickering on the tv. We glanced over and Justin yells, “HOLY CRAP THERE IS A BAT!!!” He immediately goes into beast-mode and proceeds to hunt it down and kill it which sounded very gross [I was hiding under a blanket the whole time and didn’t see a thing 🙈😂] as the thing shrieked and Justin exclaiming, “It’s not dead enough!” as it unexpectedly flinched after being “dead’ the first time.

He removed the bat, thoroughly cleaned the area and then we proceeded to inspect the house together with hoodies over our heads and squash racquets in hand… I’m sure we looked absolutely ridiculous! Thankfully we didn’t see anything sinister, and it appears the bat most likely flew in right through the front door when Justin left to get ice cream.

We debated whether to tell the kids or not, but since a health inspector would arrive the next day to remove the bat and test it for diseases, we weren’t left with much choice [thankfully we have received word it tested negative for rabies]! I was concerned Dylan would be somewhat traumatized, but he was fascinated- and found it even hilarious! He in fact was so intrigued that he even drew pictures of bats and taped them to the walls in an effort to startle me and the following morning, with black construction paper, scissors and tape made his own homemade bat costume to turn himself into a real-life bat! He even re-discovered an old Batman costume from Halloween 2016. It’s way too small now, but he managed to squeeze into it somehow.

I still have the heebie-jeebies from the bat and am haunted by its ghost [kidding… yet I still shudder when I think about that flying demon 😜], but I also have to laugh at Dylan’s comedic pranks this week! Between a rogue bat on the loose and a Dylan Archer, lockdown is far from boring!
