RESPONDING TO PREGNANCY LOSS

Today started like any other day.  It’s officially spring and in true form I am watching water droplets stream down my windowpane, washing away the last traces of winter.  [That is until the weekend as snow is on it’s way. #CanadianProblems].  The boys are down for their nap and I am enjoying a few moments of solitude with a mug full of freshly brewed coffee.

It was an ordinary day until I realized that today is the four-year mark of my first miscarriage...

DYLAN ARCHER IS 2

Dylan is now TWO!  I never truly understood how time flies until I became a parent.  Birthdays are bittersweet milestones… okay mostly sweet, but there’s a gnawing ache in my heart as I realize just how quickly my firstborn is growing up!  With that said, it’s not everyday that you turn two so a party was in order!

CONFESSION OF A SAHM

When my husband came home from work, I breathed a sigh of relief as he entered the door.  I was dishevelled, frazzled and exhausted, but tried to put on a good front.  However; within minutes, my facade had disintegrated and I burst into tears.  In between sobs, I cried sentiments such as...

MY 30TH BIRTHDAY

This week I turned 30.  Thirty… the BIG 3-0!  All “over the hill” jokes aside, I am completely looking forward to this next chapter of my life...

TWO UNDER TWO

As my boys are 22 months apart in age, I have been navigating raising two kids under two years old these past few weeks.  Having more than one child brings both its challenges and blessings.  Obviously the more children, the more work is involved; but seeing my toddler interact with his newborn brother makes this mama swoon!

This is what I have learned so far on my very brief journey of having two under two.

BIG BOYS' ROOM BLUEPRINT

Now that I have two boys, I dream of the day that they can share a room.  We live in a 3 (with the potential of a 4) bedroom house and plan on having more kids; so the fact that Dylan and Kyler are both boys and only 22 months apart makes them ideal roommates.

PAPER DOLLS

I'm someone who takes advantage of paperless bills and bank statements.  My phone is my lifeline and all of my personal and professional correspondence happens electronically.  I am environmentally-conscious and am happy that these small changes make a positive impact for our planet.

While I do love technology, I miss paper.

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: TODDLER

Isn't it crazy to think that in two weeks Boxing Day will be here and Christmas will be over?  I love the lead up to the holidays, but I'm ready to celebrate Jesus' birth with my family- and see Dylan open his gifts!  For those of you who have some last minute shopping to do, here is my 2015 holiday gift guide for toddlers.

PREGNANCY UPDATE

HOW FAR ALONG: 35 weeks

BABY:  I joke that he should have been on the show Prison Break.  His movements are so wild these days- he's probably plotting his escape!  The baby weighs approximately...

WHAT'S IN MY HOSPITAL BAG

Tomorrow I will be 35 weeks pregnant, which means we will soon be meeting our little one.  We areso excited!  These days when I'm not in Christmas mode, I am in full-fledge nesting mode.  Therefore, it is time for me to start packing my hospital bag.  Here is what I plan to bring...

30 FOR 30

When I was in high school, I recall watching a romantic comedy called “13 Going on 30.”  The premise of the movie is about a 13 year-old girl named Jenna (played by Jennifer Garner) who wants to bypass the angst of teenage and college years and fast forward to adult life at age 30.  With a little magic she reemerges as a beautiful, über successful, Manhattan-dwelling magazine editor who's thirty years old.

I’ll be honest.  When I first saw the movie I questioned why would she want to be 30 of all ages?  That seemed so old and so far off in the distant future. Haha!  Well… in less than two months from now, I will hit that milestone. [Gulp].

HAVE COURAGE & BE KIND

I looked at his cherub cheeks and immediately was silenced.  He looked so hurt, so confused and if I could express his feelings in words I knew he would say, "Why don’t you like me Mommy? What did I do wrong?"

Now with tears in my eyes, I knew what I needed to do.   He may only be 20 months old, but I owed him an apology.  Mommy is sorry...
